SELF-PORTRAIT, 1889
In late 1888, Van Gogh was attacked by dementia,
and was hospitalized until the spring of 1890. During which he was
too afraid even to leave his room, however, he continued to paint, and
exexuted this last extraordinary Self- Portrait.
